State College of Florida Collegiate Graduates Benefit from Dual-Enrollment

Sofia Sirocchi was named the Outstanding Graduate Award winner at State College of Florida Collegiate (SCF), a public charter school in Manatee County. This is the third year the school has held commencement ceremonies, in which students receive their high school diplomas in the morning and receive their Associate in Arts degrees from SCF the same evening.

Sofia was just one out of four college students from SCF and just one out of 128 total students overall throughout the state named to the Florida College System’s 2016 All-Florida Academic Team based on her academic achievement, leadership and community service. As the Vice President of Service in Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society, Sofia created and developed a series of workshops designed to help first-year college students succeed. Her work received high praise by college administration and will be used for years to come. She plans to go to the University of Florida in the fall to earn her biomedical engineering degree, with a minor in music performance and ultimately plans to attend medical school.
