South Florida PBS board of directors presented the South Florida PBS’ Stars of Education Award to Emilia Fanjul in
recognition of her “incredible impact … made in education in the western communities of Palm Beach County and her tremendous generosity to the Palm Beach community.” Mrs. Fanjul is the founding board member of Glades Charter School and Everglades Preparatory in Pahokee, Florida. She also a Florida Charter School Alliance governing board member.

South Florida PBS Chief Executive Officer Dolores Sukhdeo toasted the one-year anniversary of the merger of the two PBS stations WPBT2 and WXEL. Now, South Florida PBS serves the seventh-largest television market in the United States.
Kessler announced the launch this month of a new 24/7 children’s channel, which will live-stream PBS children’s programming James Patterson also spoke about the role PBS plays in children’s education.
