Tools for Celebrating National Charter Schools Week 2020

Press releases

National Charter Schools Week—the annual celebration of charter schools and the movement—will take place May 10-16, 2020.

In the past, FCSA has recognized outstanding member schools, principals, and teachers with on-campus celebrations during national charter schools week — but social distancing has forced us all to do things a little differently.

We have watched as charter schools across the state move to distance learning with ease and a steadfast determination to continue to provide quality education to students. That meant virtual classes, delivery of learning packets and meals, one-on-one calls to every home, and more. Not only have your teams shown strength and resilience, but we’ve seen a great deal of compassion and joy — it’s evident in the photos you’ve posted on social media and the positive responses from parents.  These efforts have inspired this year’s National Charter Schools Week theme, Above and Beyond — developed by the National Alliance for Public Charter Schools.

According to their toolkit,  “Above and Beyond speaks to the extraordinary work of charter schools to serve their students, the families of their students, and others in the community during the pandemic. This work may go unrecognized by many, but we want to shine a light on the unsung heroes who are raising the bar for all of us.”

Please join in the celebration by sharing what your teachers, students, and administrators have done.
