Several Cohort 3 School Leaders Fellows have been offered new positions in the past few weeks. The primary goal of the Fellowship is to develop a pipeline of well-prepared charter school leaders. As we head toward the finish line of the Class of 2024/Cohort 3’s training, we want to celebrate the Fellows for participating in the program and highlight the ones who recently stepped into a leadership role and/or moved to a position that supports their leadership journey.

The School Leaders Fellowship goes beyond the usual school leader training. The Fellowship connects participants with field experts and veteran charter school leaders — and adds real-world solutions and best practices to the standards presented. Guest speakers and presenters often include Fellowship graduates. Cohort 1 Fellow Kelly de la Cruz, founder and principal of Mi Escuela Charter School, will be the key presenter at the final Cohort 3 session in April 2024. Kelly is pictured above – in the center, between Fellowship program director Leisha SanMiguel and Vicki Pineda, Director, Charter Schools, Florida Department of Education.
The Florida Charter Schools Alliance (FCSA) is a member-driven organization that advocates for, supports, defends, and collaborates with public charter schools to influence state legislative policy and environments. We also support our members as they develop, maintain, and grow high-quality public charter schools. FCSA created the Fellowship to expand the availability of high-quality charter school leaders and support the expanding school choice market.
Funded by a Florida Department of Education grant, the School Leaders Fellowship has graduated three cohorts totaling 40 participants since the program’s inception in 2022. This far exceeds the program’s initial goal of 20 graduates in 5 years. The next School Leaders Fellowship Cohort 4/Class of 2025 will begin in October 2024.
