Information from the Florida Department of Education / Memorandum from Henry Mack, Chancellor Division of Career and Adult Education, November 14, 2019
Less than a month after taking office, Governor Ron DeSantis made clear his commitment to workforce education with the issuance of Executive Order 19-31. It reinforced the fact that Florida requires a competitive workforce if it is to maintain its economic status. Thanks to the support of the Florida Legislature, HB 7071 established the Pathways to Career Opportunities Grant. $10 million was appropriated to establish new or expand existing registered apprenticeship or pre-apprenticeship programs.
We are pleased to announce “Phase Two” of the Pathways to Career Opportunities Grant Request for Proposals (RFP), with nearly $3 million in funding.
The RFP is now posted online at www.fldoe.org/pathwaysgrant, and high schools, school district career centers, school district charter technical career centers, Florida College System institutions, and other entities authorized to sponsor an apprenticeship or pre-apprenticeship program may begin applying immediately.
