Florida Charter Schools identify 2022 Legislative Priorities

Press releases

January 2022 — Using feedback provided by charter school teachers, principals, and governing board members, the Florida Charter School Alliance (FCSA) recently released a list of priorities for the 2022 Florida Legislative session. Among the priorities identified, clarifying district/authorizer responsibilities ranked on the top of the list – in particular, district overreach during the charter renewal process and requesting reports not required by state statute.

The list of priorities will drive the work that the FCSA team does during the state legislative session as well as throughout the year’s school district outreach efforts.

FCSA’s 2022 Legislative Priorities include:

  • Equitable public school student funding
  • Fair ESE funding formula
  • Equitable and proper Capital Outlay (facilities funding) for public charter school students
  • Balanced and transparent charter school application review and renewal process
  • Clarify statutory language regarding excessive reporting required by authorizers
