Florida – September 22, 2023 — The Florida Charter School Alliance (FCSA) proudly announces Cohort 3/Class of 2024 School Leaders Fellowship participants. Designed specifically for individuals working at a public charter school in operation for five years or less who are passionate about education and interested in leading a high-quality school in a high-need area, the School Leaders Fellowship is successfully developing a robust pipeline of strong, effective, and visionary charter school leaders. Developed by the Florida Charter School Alliance (FCSA) and funded by a Florida Department of Education CSP grant, the School Leaders Fellowship is the only program in Florida specifically focused on developing future charter school principals. The Fellowship goes beyond traditional ed leadership training to immerse Fellows in charter school law, finance, operations, and public policy. Knowledgeable instructors with extensive K-12 and charter school experience lead sessions while guest speakers — including veteran charter school administrators and educational research and support organizations — provide a broad and real-world perspective of successful K-12 practices. This year’s guest speakers include Dr. Andy Binns, Chairman, Palm Beach Maritime Academy Governing Board; Dr. Eunice Casey, Director of School Leadership and Support Services, EdisonLearning; Kelly De La Cruz, School Leaders Fellow (Cohort 1) and Founder & Executive Director of Mi Escuela Montessori Charter School in Lakeland; Jay Drag, Vice President of Operations, Charter School Associates; Curtis Fuller, Director of Charter School Operations, Charter Support Unit and Florida Charter Institute team member; Sherry Hage, Founder & CEO, Noble Education Initiative; Alex Prieto, Principal, Somerset Academy Miramar South, a 2020 National Blue Ribbon School; and Dr. Kia Scott, Senior Director, School Choice Services, Orange County Public Schools.
