In May 2022, the first cohort of the School Leaders Fellowship graduated from the program. The Fellows successfully completed the 6-month program that the Florida Charter School Alliance (FCSA) created in order to develop a robust pipeline of charter school leaders. The program is made possible by a grant from the Florida Department of Education through the federal CSP grant. The Fellowship courses and workshops were designed to go beyond standard school leadership content — providing participants with insight and expertise essential to charter school administrators. The Fellows met monthly in person and/or virtually. The sessions provided an overview of the Florida charter school movement and covered a full range of topics essential to school leaders including Charter School Law, Parent/Community Engagement, District Relations, Charter School Operations, and Charter School Finances. The program culminates with the completion of a
Capstone Project and presentation by the Fellows at the Florida Charter School Conference.
“The School Leaders Fellowship class of 2022 mirrors the passion for education and diversity of the charter school movement in Florida. They have varying degrees of leadership experience and backgrounds, yet they are all connected by a common goal — to raise the quality of education for the community they serve,” said Lynn Norman-Teck, Executive Director, FCSA. “This group exceeded our expectations. They were not only committed to the Fellowship but they also worked collaboratively on assignments, developing a camaraderie that ensures they will support each other in the future.”
