Charter Renewal Requirement in Hillsborough as of November 2021

November 2021 — As part of the charter renewal process, Hillsborough County Public Schools is requiring the submission of a written narrative that describes how the charter school has adhered to any legal or required legislative mandates over the charter term and any adjustment made to Florida charter school law over the past 5 years.

Below are links to 2017 to 2022 legislative summaries developed by the FCSA team. The information within those summaries highlights recent laws and mandates impacting charter schools and/or K-12 public education.

We also recommend that administrators and governing board members use the Florida charter school law as a guide to ensure compliance with Hillsborough’s renewal requirement.  The charter school law 1002.33 describes every legislative mandate; and Section (16) EXEMPTION FROM STATUTES lists the “exemptions to the exemptions,” or the statutes apart from 1002.33 that must be followed.

Here is a link to 1002.33 Charter schools law.
