The program, the first initiative of its kind in Florida, brings together charter school leaders, district school board members, and superintendents
August 2021 –– In the midst of great uncertainty, great leaders are forged. As ambiguity grows in South Florida’s fight to mitigate COVID-19, our leaders know that the greatest support to our nation’s future consists in its capacity to communicate to future generations the truths that have been handed down to them, i.e., to educate. The Florida Charter School Alliance (FCSA) has proven a bastion in this mission. In the past month, FCSA, in collaboration with the Florida Department of Education (FDOE), has brought together educational leaders from across the state in an effort to better equip them in their leadership roles. In the state of Florida, it represents the first initiative of its kind. Through our network of relationships and passion to educate, we have managed to create an alliance of charter school leaders, school board members, and superintendents in order to share their best practices. Setting aside their differences, these leaders in public education have decided to collaborate today, in order to determine our tomorrow.
The details of this collaborative project, include a Collaborative Town Hall which FCSA, in conjunction with the FDOE, organized last month. It was the first of a series of presentations meant to increase the number of high-quality public school leaders and embolden their capacity for leadership across the state. In attendance were district leaders from rural and metropolitan areas, including Osceola, Miami-Dade, Volusia, St. Lucie, Hillsborough, and Palm Beach. They were joined by a number of charter school leaders also determined to impart their knowledge and share their experiences and best practices in educational leadership.
The Charter/District Collaboration is supported by the Florida Department of Education’s federal Charter Schools Program grant. For more information about this program contact Ralph Arza at Ralph@ralpharza.com.
