The rate increase — effective in December 2016 — is in response to two recent Supreme Court rulings undoing reforms passed in 2003. NCCI (National Council on Compensation Insurance) originally requested a 19.6% increase due to the impactful court rulings. After much debate, the Florida Office of Insurance regulation passed an amended 14.5% surge.
