August 2025 — Florida — According to the most recent U.S. News & World Report ranking of high schools nationwide, 22% of the top 100 high schools in Florida are public charter schools.
Florida charter schools remain a top educational choice for parents and continue to demonstrate strong academic performance—raising student achievement and earning rankings alongside prestigious magnet programs and private schools. “By meeting students where they are and pushing them toward excellence, charter schools are proving what’s possible in public education,” said Lynn Norman-Teck, executive director, Florida Charter School Alliance. “For 29 years, charter schools’ unwavering focus on continuous academic improvement and commitment to serving all learners have propelled them and the students they serve to the top.”

The 2025 U.S. News rankings include data on more than 24,000 public high schools in 50 states and the District of Columbia. Schools are evaluated on six key factors: college readiness, state assessment proficiency, state assessment performance, performance for underserved students, breadth of college curriculum (share of seniors who passed AP/IB exams in multiple subjects), and graduation rate.
