School Board Candidates Meet Charter Parents, Educators at Forums

Press releases

Florida – The Florida Charter School Alliance (FCSA), a non-profit member-driving association, is hosting a series of “Meet the School Board Candidates” forums. At these events, an FCSA team member interviews the candidates and leads a meaningful and engaging discussion that will inform parents and educators.

  • Miami Dade, District 3 – The forum was held at Mater Academy Biscayne in North Miami.  Moderated by Dr. Tony Arza, candidate Martin Karp discussed why he was running for school board member and his stance on school choice, parental rights, and more. Watch their conversation here.
  • Palm Beach, District 1 – The forum was held at Renaissance Charter at West Palm Beach. Moderated by FCSA board chair Lauren Hollander, candidates Matthew Lane and Page Lewis shared their platform and discussed issues important to today’s K-12 parents.  Watch their conversation here.

Each forum will feature brief introductions from each candidate and a respectable moderated Q&A session. As a nonprofit 501c3, the FCSA does not endorse any candidates. However, we encourage civic engagement and want to provide a platform for our stakeholders and community members to engage in the election process and the issues that candidates support. The events are free and open to the public, but space is limited. Registration is encouraged.

“Local school boards and Superintendents make crucial decisions that affect the education of all the children within their district,” said Lynn Norman-Teck, executive director of the FCSA. “It’s vital that voters have the chance to hear directly from candidates about their stance on public education and educational choice.”
