Students at Athenian Academy in Pasco Make Gains, Earn an “A” from the State
AUGUST 6, 2019 — ATHENIAN NEWS — According to the 2019 school grades released by the Florida Department of Education, Athenian Academy of Technology and the Arts is an“A”rated school!
Athenian Academy students continue to show tremendous growth each year, with many grade levels and subject areas outscoring the District and Florida averages. The math test pass rate at Athenian Academy is 61 percent — one point higher than the previous year, and nearly every grade level and subject area showed improvement.
“Overall there were many, gains at every level, phenomenal work by all our students and teachers. We are so proud of our kiddos, our team, and the entire Athenian family,” said Evan Markowitz, principal. “This is an impressive accomplishment for any school, but especially a Title I school.”
Below are just a few of the achievement highlights;

100% of 8th gradestudents passed the Civics End of Course Exam

For the first time in ten years, 6th, 7th, and 8th grade Math achieved above 50% proficiency

8th graders achieved 67% proficiency in Science

4th graders showed tremendous growth — achieving 65% proficiency in English Language Arts (ELA) — surpassing the state average of 55%

3rd graders achieved 70% proficiency on both the ELA and Math assessments
Athenian Academy of Technology and the Arts is a Pasco County public charter schools located at 3118 Seven Springs Blvd., in New Port Richey. Opened in August of 2006, Athenian Academy serves grades K – 8, with an emphasis on student engagement through cooperative learning, the arts, and technology.
